The PlayMaker Course

The PlayMaker course

We are approached by amazing individuals all the time who want to build a playground in their community but just don’t know where to start. The PlayMaker Course was designed to help inspired playmakers get the skills and the experience that they need in order to become community leaders and committed playmakers.

The PlayMaker Course is designed using project management practices so that participants who complete the course are not only ready to build a playground but ready to take on any project in a professional manner. Students who complete the course will receive a Playmaker Project Management Certificate Level 1.

Getting to know the course

At Play360 we believe in creating simple, quality projects. We know that in order to manage and maintain a playground well, all that is needed to do so must be in the hands and knowledge of the local community. We work together with our local playmakers and community teams to support them in developing the project and designing the playground, but we carefully practice the philosophy of “guide on the side,” so that our playmakers and their community team always have everything that they need to build their playground.

Course Format

The PlayMaker course is a series of Modules that include several lessons and topics that support the central theme.

The first four modules will support you in any sort of project management or design intentions, while the last three modules are specific to your playground build project.

Course Delivery

The PlayMaker course is delivered in an asynchronous format so learners can do it on their own schedule. Course participants will be guided by video narrators and will have several activities to complete along their learning journey. Play360 mentors are available throughout the course for support and guidance.

Course Expectation

The PlayMaker course requires approximately 20-40 hours to complete depending on the complexity of the project design.
Playmakers will need to bring what they are learning into a real world context by engaging with their community on some projects and uploading evidence of this work to the platform.

Course community and support

The play360 community is made up of a network of playmakers who have done the work that you want to do.
After you complete Module 4 you will be assigned a play360 mentor. Throughout the course play360 staff and community leaders will support you on your journey and be available for questions and feedback on your ideas.
